My daughter had an enjoyable day today painting and sun dyeing fabric for her quilting and fabric art. Beth started with fabric she’d previously dyed. Today she incorporated items from nature, ferns and leaves, for the designs on the fabrics below as she used sun dyeing and painting techniques. She said she eventually may do some stamping […]

Noreen at Hankering for Yarn tagged me for the 7 Random Facts Meme, in which I list seven facts about myself. I also was tagged at my Home Biz Notes blog and have listed seven there.
So even though I’ve listed seven facts at Home Biz Notes, I’ll see what information I can provide here that may […]

Beth continues to make “inchies” for herself and for trading in her group. In addition to being fascinating little pieces of art, they’re a way to experiment with new techniques without wasting a great deal of fabric and art materials.
These are inchies she made to send as trades.
A friend was looking at these and suggested […]

Fabric postcards with a “triangle” theme provide intriguing pieces of art in one of my daughter’s quilting groups. This exchange involved triangles; the previous one had a theme of circles.
Beth has posted two of her cards at Meandering Threads. I’ve included one here.
She fused the blue background strips to the card backing, then secured them in […]

We’ve been watching a pair of nuthatches build a nest and hatch a batch of babies. We haven’t seen the babies yet, but we can hear them when Papa and Momma Nuthatch bring the food. Their birdhouse hangs in a tree not far from our deck.
So today, Beth took photos of the parents as they […]

Previously I wrote about “inchies” in the post, Discovering “Inchies” in the Quilting World. These are the little one inch embellished squares (or slightly larger for “plus size inchies”) that quilters have discovered and are trading, using as decorations, and purely having fun making.
My daughter decided they are the right size for pins so converted two […]

Yesterday I posted my daughter Beth’s photo of lilacs and a butterfly as a possible inspiration for quilting. I didn’t realize at the time Beth was printing the photo on fabric for the final panel of her round robin book project.
When I saw her compiling the pages today and spied the butterfly and lilacs, I […]

Keep your camera handy! Don’t let those interesting photos escape you. My daughter continually looks for inspiration for her quilting and fabric art in the world around here. Recently she found some lovely spring flowers in thearea around our home. From lilacs, butterflies and lady slippers she gains inspiration and ideas.
She also created a trillium design […]

Over at Layers Upon Layers, Cyndi calls our attention to painting and dyeing fabrics for quilting and other fabric art projects. Actually her painting involves sun pringing muslin after painting it. She refers to Melissa’s blog and her great fabric dyeing techniques and displays.
My daughter enjoys painting and dyeing fabrics and creating all types of […]
