Where in the World is the World’s Largest Quilt?
You’ve probably seen large quilts, either in museums or at commemorative displays. Have you ever seen one that’s 135 feet long and 85 feet wide?
At least you’ve probably never seen this one because only rarely has there been a space large enough for display. So the 800-pound quilt is stored in a travel trailer.
This is the North Dakota quilt Leonna Tennyson convinced quilters around the state to create for the state’s centennial celebration in 1987. Seven thousand quilters stitched together fabric to make the 53 counties of the state. The last time it was displayed was for Antler, ND’s centennial in 2005. (Antler is where Leonna lived.)
Check out a photo, as well as more details about the World’s Largest Quilt, at the above link. Fantastic!
