Quilting and Patchwork, as well as the other Arts and Design bloggers, have become part of the larger Lifestyles Channel at b5media. This is exciting, and I’m looking forward to working with Gayla, our Channel Editor (CE).
For a round-up of all the happenings at the Lifestyles Channel, read Gayla’s news, Move Over Martha - The [...]

Josh Johnson’s post, Button, Button, Who’s Got the Button?, at Junk Creation, got me thinking about button storage over the years. Josh shows a picture of the jar his wife uses for her buttons. Quilters have long been collectors of buttons, left over from times ago when every button was precious and useful for replacing lost [...]

“Exercise!” you exclaim. “How do I find time for that. I have a family to care for, a job or quilting deadlines, etc., etc., etc.”
After reading Kendra’s post, The Winter Season Affects Blood Pressure, at A Hearty Life, you may want to take a look at your exercise routine (or lack of) and your diet during the [...]

Don’t let those fabric scraps go to waste. Jen at Domestik Goddess has a great idea. She mentioned it in the comments section to my post, Holiday Wreaths from Quilt Fabric Scraps. As I read about this and saw the pictures on Jen’s blog, I wondered, “Why not make these from recycled quilting or fabric art projects?”
Fabric artists save fabric for years. (Cyndi at Layers [...]

Cyndi’s art quilts continue to entrall me. (I must take time in my busy days to try some of her techniques with my scraps.) Over at Layers Upon Layers, Cyndi has two posts you’ll want to check out.
Making an Art Quilt compares techniques used in two similar quilts. A technique she used in the beige [...]

The desire to save old quilts, whether those in our family, something found at a yard sale, or ones rescued from the dump, runs strong in quilters and anyone involved in our quilting heritage. Family quilts take on new meaning when we can salvage at least something made by grandmother, great grandmother, aunts, cousins and other relatives.
Gina/Thimbelina has [...]

Cyndi at Layers Upon Layers created a superb piece of art in her September Morning Art Quilt . The autumn colors, the leaf shaped fabric pieces, the lace, the buttons and the sheet music combine perfectly into a bit of whimsy that truly reminds me of the days of September and October we just experienced in New [...]
