Do Quilters & Crafters Experience Eating Disorders?

Do Quilters & Crafters Experience Eating Disorders?
Generally I hear quilters mention that they gain weight because this activity is so sedentary and they don’t make the effort to get the necessary exercise.  Or they mention it’s too easy to have a snack handy when you’re involved in your quilting art projects. However, there are artists on the other […]

The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America’s “Quilt to Remember,” creating awareness of Alzheimer’s disease is on national tour.  A very informative story about the quilt and it’s origin can be found at Alzheimer’s Weekly, “A Quilt to Remember” - National Tour, written by Peter Berger.
“The exhibit is made of large panels crafted by individuals, including some […]

Quilters’ Passion for Pincushions

When I read about the pin cushion contest, Call for entries: Pincusions,  at Noreen’s Hankering for Yarn, my mind slipped into “memory gear” and I thought of my first pinchusion.  When my grandmother (Nanny) and I were quilting, she decided I needed a pincushion like hers.
I don’t know if she bought it, or found she […]

Beading Retreats…Do Quilters Attend These?

Cyndi at Layers Upon Layers announced, “I’m going on a beading retreat.“
Now I’ve heard of many types of retreats, but never one for beaders before.  I’m looking forward to Cyndi’s report about her trip to this event about halfway across the USA from where she lives.
Quilters have begun to find beads important as embellishments in their […]

Tips for Machine Quilting in Sections

Instead of bundling the entire quilt around your sewing machine and trying to maneuver it as you sew, why not quilt in sections?  In the current issue of the Quilted Paradise Newsletter, you’ll find some tips for doing just this, dividing your quilt into sections and quilting a piece at a time.
The article appropriately is, […]

Am I a “Vintage” Quilter?

As I browsed around the Revival Fabrics web site, I came across the vintage tablecloths category.  Pictured there was a tablecloth and napkins in blue and white with floral and ribbon design.  I’d say it dates to the 1950’s or early ’60’s.
They reminded me of a wedding shower gift from my husband’s aunt!  […]
