Heart-shaped yo-yo’s? What a wonderful idea! They’re mentioned and pictured both on Cyndi’s Layers Upon Layers and Chloe’s Tangled Thread. (More yo-yo’s at Tangled Thread.)
Yo-yo’s always seem so popular whenever I mention them or I find them on other quilting and crafting sites. These little shirred circles can be used for so many projects and […]

As I watched my daughter make a fairy for the Round Robin quilt book project her Fiber Explorers group is undertaking, I was amazed. The theme for the book she had to work on this session was Art Paper Dolls.

Do you have a quilter’s Inspiration Bag? The idea came to me as I read Emily’s message in her Quilters Village Newsletter.

I look at nature and photography with different eyes and insight since watching the interview of Joen Wolfrom on The Quilt Show with Alex Anderson and Ricky Tims.
Joen explained how she chose colors from her photos for her quilts and quilt hangings. These weren’t landscape replicas as I had expected. She chose the colors from her […]

“The electricity is off. I can’t use my sewing machine!” we dread to hear as quilters and fabric artists.
Also, if you’re conducting a business where you promote and sell your items over the Internet, you’re likely to be devastated when you hear,”Your server is down. The electricity is off. Your computer has a glitch.”
All of […]

Janet Wickell has posted some very interesting information on fabric grain, Understanding Fabric Grain Improves Your Quilting Skills, and the importance of quilters and fabric artists being knowledgeable about this topic. Using straight grain pieces and bias cut pieces can produce totally different results…and sometimes not the results you desire if you don’t know the characteristics of each.
There are a […]

According to the latest e-mail newsletter I received from Quilting Arts Magazine, paper quilts are all the craze now. This is a preview of an upcoming article in the latest issue.
Paper quilts! you say. These often involve a collage effect and include the use of paper, fibers, expandable paint, netting, and other embellishments. Quilters […]
