In northern climates, we’ve been experiencing colder weather and snow. So as February reaches the mid-mark, our thoughts begin to turn to” spring and flowers and sun. Julie of Big Horn Quilts in Greybull, WY mentions this in her newsletter and got me thinking about the longer days, flowers, and warmer weather that’s coming before […]

The first big snow storm of the season bombarded New Hampshire (USA) today, rather late in the season this year, but making for a day with schools closed, as well as some businesses.
It’s a good time to delve into my quilting projects.
Since I didn’t have time for anything too complex or lengthy, I got out my […]

So….how does a business generate such loyalty in their customers? How will you develop your business so customers return repeatedly, whether […]

With our modern computerized sewing machines, some so automated they’ll sew without you touching them, many quilters may not realize that there once existed “people-powered” or non-electric sewing machines. The question: Do you […]

I love this piece my daughter Beth did for her Take a Stitch Tuesday lesson. It’s an example of the chevron stitch. Beth is doing her lessons in postcard size pieces. By keeping them uniform, she’ll be able to better display them when finished.
(And I’ve learned how to post the pictures on my blog!)
To learn more about […]

Quilting & Patchwork participates in the February b5Media Artist Showcase , “From the Heart.” hosted by Noreen Crone-Findlay. I was so captivated by my daughter’s fabric Valentine postcards that I wanted to share them with my readers and at the showcase, in my post, “Creating Valentine’s Day Fabric Postcards.”
Other bloggers in b5 Media’s Arts & […]

Nowadays, with quiltmaking evolving into fabric and fiber art, combination fabrics have become popular. However, when I became involved in the revival of quiltmaking during the “Bicentennial Years” in the US (1975-76), quite a controversy was gong on concerning the merits of one hundred precent cotton fabric vs cotton/polyester fabric.
Some quiltmakers asserted that unless you […]

As Valentine’s Day approaches, quilters often give gifts they’ve created with designs of hearts and love. My daughter participates in a fabric postcard exchange. Since it was near Valentine’s Day, Beth designed some of these with heart designs to send to her friends.
I found her cards enchanting and would like to share them with my […]
