Check Out the Barn Quilts of Sac County, Iowa
Barn quilts, made of large, colorful wooden blocks, generally 8-foot square, are located throughout Sac County, Iowa on historic barns and corncribs. These designs, painted in primary colors, are ones connected with agriculture, farm animals, and rural life.
This project, consisting of 55 barn quilts, was so successful that smaller quilts have been constructed and placed near 19 smaller historic buildings and historic sites in Sac County.
When visiting Sac County, you can obtain brochures about the barn quilt project and maps, with quilt locations, at welcome centers, stores, museums, and other loctions.
