Add Personal News to Your Quilting Newsletter
If you’re sending out a quilting e-newsletter, how do you ensure that others will want to subscribe and continue reading? Generally the newsletters I’ve found are published by quilters and quilt shops selling fabrics, patterns, kits, and quilting related items. The newsletter becomes a way to connect with your customers.
As I’ve subscribed and browsed through e-newsletters lately, I’ve found these appeal to me:
*Adding something personal about your quilting life, travels, and projects. This catches my interest more than simply a listing of items for sale, even when those items come with pictures. This personal blurb generally shouldn’t be too long, but something that lets the reader/quilter get to know you better. You may not want it too personal either, to protect your privacy.
*Adding a picture of your projects, quilters you’ve met, or quilt shows you’ve attended. If you post photos of other quilters, make sure you have their permission. Some quilters also prefer you ask permission before publishing photos of their quilts.
*Adding something new in each newsletter…a fabric, pattern, quilting tip, etc.
*Adding photos of some of these items and then a link to your online shop.
Some newsletters I receive that add short personal notes are:
*Havasu Quilts News (www.havasuquilts.com )
*Kaye Wood’s Quilting Newsletter (www.kayewood.com/newsletter.pdf
*Fat Quarter Quilters News (www.fatquarterquilters.com )
What do you like to see in newsletters?
