Developing Your Quilting Blog

Many quilters nowadays are venturing into the world of blogging.  They’re developing blogs where they can post their projects, develop ideas, chat about their quilting life…ultimately sharing with other quilters.

They still belong to quilting groups, whether “in person” or online.  But they have a place to share what they’re doing and gain exposure to for their work, just as writers do.  This also can serve as a place to store information and have it all in one place, rather than scattered in files and notes around your home.  (The information is accessible to others, so keep this in mind when posting.)

There are personal blogs, maintained by one quilter; magazine blogs where editors and staff members of a magazine post information that isn’t in their issues or on their web site; quilt fabric store owners may have blogs where they can update their customers regularly; authors of quilt related books also have blogs to share about their writing and other developments in their quilting world.

To give you an idea of what might be in a blog:  In this blog, Quilting and Patchwork, I share my thoughts about quilting topics as well as post information and resources of interest to my quilting readers.  At Tales of the Trails End Quilters (http://trailsendquilters.blogspot.com ) I’m researching and relating my family quilting heritage. 

In Meandering Threads (http://meanderingthreads.blogspot.com ), my daughter shares her thoughts and the projects in her quilting life.  A blog by the editor of Quilting Arts magazine appears at (www.quiltingartsblog.com ).
