Dyeing Fabrics for Quiltmaking
My daughter spent much of today dyeing fabrics for her quiltmaking. Beth finds this a relaxing and enjoyable aspect of her fabric art. Many quilters have become involved in dyeing and painting fabrics, creating numerous effects that add appeal to their quiltmaking and patchwork.
If you’re interested in learning more about fabric dyeing or perfecting what you’re doing now, you’ll find a number of books available.
Beth first began dyeing, following instructions in Adriene Buffington’s book, Hand-Dyed Fabric Made Easy.
Another book Beth has begun reading, and which many quilters find helpful, is Ann Johnston’s Color By Accident. You’ll discover more information about Ann and her dyeing and fabric art at her web site: http://www.annjohnston.net/.
By typing “fabric dyeing” into search engines, you’ll find more information about this technique that appeals to so many fabric artists today.
