Creating Your Own Fabric
Many quilters have begun creating their own fabric backgrounds for quilt hangings and postcards. This is a good way to use up their scraps. So….take note….don’t throw out even the smallest scraps.
When I first saw my daughter ripping fabric into strips, I wondered why. “To make fabric,” she replied, leaving me even more puzzled.
Then…she began selecting coordinating colors and patterns and laying them out on a 12 x 12-inch piece of fusible webbing. When she had these arranged to her satisfaction, Beth began ironing them to the backing.
She may cut this handmade fabric into postcard size pieces or use it as is for a hanging. Recently she created a contest entry on some of this background made from scraps.
