Collecting Threads of Various Types
My daughter has a stash containing many types of thread and yarn. This includes the regular quilting thread, many colors of thread for the sewing machine, as well as glitter thread, frayed looking thread, thin yarn, thick yarn, and fibers of numerous types.
Why would a quilter become excited about threads? Why did Beth come home from visiting a fabric shop beaming because the owner gave her a bag of discontinued thread samples?
Nowadays quilters are incorporating threads of all types into their work, especially quilt hangings and fabric post cards. With threads, beads, and other three-dimensional objects, they are creating unique pieces of art. So they become very enthusiastic about accumulating threads of different colors and textures.
