Quilting and Patchwork

Mini Quilting & Patchwork Projects

by Mary Emma Allen on December 30th, 2005

I like mini projects I can carry with me as I travel, ones that fit into a sandwich size plastic bag or similar size freezer bag. I can carry this in my suitcase or the side pocket of my computer bag.

The popular fabric postcard projects fit into one of these bags nicely. I simply slide the materials or work-in-progress into it. Another small plastic bag might contain beads and buttons I’d like to sew onto the postcard for decorative effect.

My daughter organized another small project for me…a mini wall hanging. She cut pieces for the design and included a sketch of what it should look like finished. This was somewhat like a kit for a tiny project.

Brainstorm for mini projects you can carry with you when you travel, wait for youngsters at sports games, or sit in a doctor’s waiting room. Look through quilt books and web sites for more ideas.
