Quilting and Patchwork

2006 Quilting/Patchwork Goals

by Mary Emma Allen on December 3rd, 2005

As we approach a new year, it’s not too early to think of (and writing down) your quilting goals for 2006. What do you want to accomplish? If you begin to jot ideas down, you’ll begin to focus on them and develop these projects and aspirations. You’ll begin to research and plan ways to accomplish them.

*Do you want to concentrate on bed quilts, quilt hangings, clothing, or other items? Begin to look at projects you can become involved in. Look for patterns.

*Do you want to try something new…either a new process, type of fabric, quilting technique?

*What shows would you like to attend this year? What about a quilters retreat? Or attend a workshop in a different place? Make sure you have the dates for the favorite ones you usually attend and mark them on your calendar.

*Do you want to teach a workshop?

*Where do you plan to display in galleries, shows, shops?

*Will you enter any quilting contests?

*Would you like to design patterns and kits to sell?

*Would you like to write about quilting? Research the markets.

*Will you make a quilt scrapbook for your pleasure and family heritage?

*Will you research old quilts in your family?

*Will you place your quilting/patchwork items in stores to sell or begin a mail order business.

*If you don’t have a web site, what about developing one?

The list becomes almost endless for quilt and quilt/patchwork projects you can plan for 2006. How about jotting down your thoughts now?
