Quilting and Patchwork

Patchwork Magic

by Mary Emma Allen on November 17th, 2005

(A poem)

There’s magic in patchwork
Full of memories, colors, and styles.
A magic that pulls families together
Throughout the generations.

Did we quilt with Grandma?
Did Mother tell us tales?
Do we find memory fabrics
From clothing worn years ago

Quilting bee gatherings
Brought ladies together
For chats, news gathering,
Sharing of talents and tea.

This patchwork trail
Of many hues and patterns,
Creates a heritage and bond
Uniting quilters o’re the years.
