Quilting and Patchwork

Keeping a Quilter’s Record Book

by Mary Emma Allen on October 26th, 2005

A friend showed me the record book she kept with information about the quilts she made. I realized I’d never kept much of a record or log of the quilts I’d created over the years. I have a few photos of quilts I made for others and for sale in regional shops. I should, at least, record the data I recall about them.

Quilters’ record books can be created in many ways:

*Recording the quilts you’ve made with a description of the fabrics, colors, and size.

*Adding to the above the reasons or circumstances surrounding the making of the quilt.

*Including photos of the quilt and the process

*Putting this information into a log on your computer, blog, or web site
