Whether these ideas come from nature and the out-of-doors, patterns in the sand, snow drifts, clouds in the sky, birds, animals, unusual color combinations, reflections in the water, the knot of a tree, and other natural or manmade objects, theyre utilized by quilters in their sketches.

As I read my grandfathers writings, Fifty Years Ago, Rural Life from 1876, I was delighted to realize hed included information about his mothers quilting at Trails End Farm, in Dutchess County, NY.
