Take Your Quilting Traveling
Ive always enjoyed quilting projects I can take with me to work on as I travel. Since much of my traveling is by plane, I cant tote along anything that is bulky and requires a lot of space. These must be projects I can pull out at an airport, on a plane, in a rental car, or in a motel/hotel room.
I dont have a sewing machine with me either, so they must be hand projects that dont require many supplies.
One project thats made the rounds of the country was a pillow top. Id stitched this together on the machine. Then I completed the hand quilting as I traveled. This only required that I had basted the top, the batting (I wanted this to have a three dimensional effect) and back together. (This later would be stitched to another piece of fabric so it could be filled with a pillow form.)
Most recently Ive become involved in the postcard quilts my daughter introduced me to. These small items are ideal for the traveling quilter. I can do all the hand stitching on these, as well as adding embellishments, as I make my way around the country.
What are some of the smaller projects youve discovered that you can tuck into a tote bag or suitcase to work on when youre away from home .traveling, waiting in a doctors office, watching childrens sports games, chatting over tea with a friend?

Thanks for your comment, Lei. I researched some sites on the Internet where you can find fabric postcards or postcard quilts and just posted them.
